The Agricultural History Society of Ireland is always open to new members and would like to hear from anyone with an interest in agricultural or food history.  Our main activity is organising conferences on a range of agriculture-related topics.  See About for further details.

The AHSI Summer Conference/Fieldtrip 2017 recently took place on Clare Island, Co. Mayo on the theme of 6000 years of farming history and its impact on an island environment.

Thematically following on from the visit to Clare Island the AHSI Autumn Symposium and AGM 2017 will take place on 11 November 2017, 9:30 am to 4:30pm. Conference theme: Farming and Island Life. Location: Helen Roe theatre, Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland (RSAI), 63 Merrion Sq., Dublin 2. If you wish to suggest contributors or would like to contribute yourself please contact Professor Jim McAdam at jim.mcadam@afbini.gov.uk.

We plan to publish the proceedings of the AHSI 2016 meetings. The overall theme is: Rural Ireland During Times of Conflict and Rebellion in the Late Nineteenth/early Twentieth Century. Participation in this is open to anybody who wishes to contribute and has material relevant to the above theme, including contributions that were not part of an AHSI event. For further information contact Dr Jean Walker at ahsipublication@gmail.com.
